Configuring Semtech for HAAS Alert

This document provides the detailed instructions for configuring your AirLink OS fleet of devices to communicate with the HAAS Alert system.

Configure MQTT Reporting

You can create a device template that includes the Custom Report details and the MQTT server configuration, and then push that template out to your entire fleet. You will need to create the Custom Report first, and saving it as an MQTT report will expose the MQTT server section in AirLink OS.

1. Login to an AirLink OS router (either locally or through your ALMS Account) and navigate to Services > Telemetry > Custom Reports.
2. Click Create Reports and specify the following:
   1. Name: enter a meaningful name such as HAAS Alert
   2. Report Title: enter a meaningful name such as HAAS Alert
   3. Report Mode: Select MQTT
   4. MQTT Topic Report Name: This will be included in the data being sent to HAAS Alert. It is recommended that you include your Company ID (from HAAS) and a vehicle identifier such as TAIP ID, separated by a forward slash (/). If you choose to include a vehicle identifier, you will need to update that entry on each individual device.
   5. Report Content: From the list, select Device Serial Number, Altitude, GNSS Speed, Latitude, Longitude, Primary GPIO Input, Heading
   6. Click Create (or Update) to save the report definition or changes.
3. Navigate down to the Delta Triggers and create the following trigger:
   1. Name: Enter a meaningful name
   2. Enable = On
   3. Generate This Report…: Select your HAAS Alert report by name
   4. When this item’s sampled values…: Select Primary GPIO Input
   5. Change by this amount since last report: Enter 1
   6. Or this time elapses since last report: Enter 15 (sec)
   7. Click Create (or Update) to save the trigger
4. Navigate down to Level Triggers and create the following trigger:
   1. Name: HAAS Level Trigger
   2. Enable = On
   3. Generate this report: Select your HAAS Alert report by name
   4. While this item’s sampled values are…: Select GNSS Trip Odometer (m)
   5. Relational Operator: Select >= (greater than equal)
   6. This threshold value: Enter 10
   7. Click Create (or Update) to save the trigger
5. Navigate down to the next major section, MQTT to enter the server details.
   1. Broker Hostname: mqtt.haasalert.com
   2. Port: Enter 8883
   3. Auto Generate Client ID: Enabled
   4. Authentication: Select username and password
   5. Username: Enter your username provided by HAAS Alert
   6. Password: Enter your password provided by HAAS Alert
   7. Leave Topic, QOS Level, Keepalive Period, TX Report burst, TX Report Rate, Acknowledge Time, and Max. Pending Reports with their default entries
   8. Data Format: Select ATP Format
   9. Timestamp Format: Select Report Timestamp
   10. Connection Security: Select Use TLS with Trusted Third-Party CA
   11. If everything has been entered properly and the information is accurate, the Status will change to Connected
